Lubanzi shares its name with the Lubanzi Xhosa Village that is perched on it. Visit the village to experience it’s customs and culture.

There is an estuary nearby, which is great for fishing, paddling, and bird-watching. With green hills and rugged rocky mountain faces surrounding the beach, this makes exciting exploration on foot and promises spectacular views. There are sea caves on Lubanzi too, into which you can swim or, if you wait until low tide, walk.

Hole in the Wall is a renowned attraction that is just five kilometers from Lubanzi Beach when walking. A hike from Lubanzi to Hole in the Wall is a great way to experience all the natural splendour in-between. Driving there involves a far longer route of some 21 kilometers. Coffee Bay is only about 30 kilometers from Lubanzi.

Wild Lubanzi Backpackers

The Backpackers is 50% community owned – our staff are our extended family, all of them are directors of the company, and all of them make the place what it is. The Backpacker is nestled on one of the hills overlooking the beach, providing you with stunning sunrise views. It is surrounded by local village huts, people, livestock, laughter and the lovely hum of Xhosa village life.
